Hi everyone,

Over the last week and a bit my dad and I came over to America to do some winter training whilst England is to wet. We bought some riders along with us from England to come and live a pros life for a few weeks. “It has been a really good experience because you can get up at 6.00am every morning and go physical training then go out riding, doing mottos and perfecting our skills as well as riding on some of the best tracks in America” said one of the riders.

We are here at the Brett Downey Memorial race at Perris Raceway with Beautiful sunshine and not a cloud in the sky ( just like England!!! I wish ) the track looked awesome because it had been ripped so loads of ruts would form.

Saturday 10th

I got out there in practice and felt great. I was the only one doing this 90ft double on an 85cc.

I had 6 races they were the 85cc 12-13 , 85cc open ( you can be 11 through to 16 years old ) and the supermini ( you can ride a 112cc and be up to 16 years old ). You had two races in each class and because I was doing three classes I had six races.

My first race was the 85cc 12 - 13. I got a good start but over shot the first turn a little and dropped back to second but by ½ a lap I got into the lead. And stayed there.

My second race was the supermini. I got into second of the start and was trying to catch the leader Christian Craig but couldn't. I stayed in second. Christian wasn't in my first 85cc class because he is 15 years old.

My third race was the 85cc open. Christian and I had a good battle but he just got the better of me.

My next race was back with the 12 - 13’s on my 85cc. I got a great start getting the holeshot and just pulled away.

Race five was on the supermini. This race was basically a replay of the first supermini race and I got second again.

The last race of the day back on my 85cc in the open. I got the holeshot with Christian behind and I was trying to hold  him off but he slipped through. I tried as hard as I could to hang on to him but he gradually pulled a gap.

That night it rained and the track was like a quagmire.

Sunday 11th

The track was to wet to run practice so they cancelled it and run straight into the races. Today we only have one race so I have three.

In the first race I got a great start. All Europeans are normally better than the Americans in the wet because In Europe it always rains but in America it doesn't. I put my mud skills to the test and I won buy almost ½ a lap.

In the second race the supermini. I got out the start right behind Christian. We battled it out till the end but once again he got the better of me.

In the last race I battled it out with him again but this time with two laps to go he crashed in a corner so I passed him. He took a long time to get up so I won.

Overall a great weekend. Last Easter most of the guys that were at this race used to beat me but now I can beat them, so all my training is paying off.

I would also like to thank my school (Park House school and sports collage) and teachers for supporting me and giving me the work that I need to keep up with the rest of the class.
