Max Anstie wins in Bulgaria
Hi guys, After a pretty successful rd1, with a win and a puncture, I was ready to do some business. Most people say that this track is the best in the world and to be honest I have to agree with them! It has massive up and down hills with huge table tops, step ups / downs and even has two whoop sections.
I had a good time training, qualifying 2nd overall to the French Jason Clermont with only a ½ a second between us. Unfortunately in free training on Sunday morning I blew my bike up. We had bought the jetting down and then I seized it. I had to ride my second bike which wasn’t as good as my first one, and also with the amount of competition I thought it was all going wrong!
In my first moto I got a great start and got into 5th. About 5 laps in I made my moves and moved into 2nd. The leader Jason Clermount on the 150cc 4stroke had about an 8sec lead. I worked as hard as I could and eventually on the last lap with some help from the back markers I caught him. We then battled the last ½ lap until finally I finished second.
In my second moto I got a better start and was sat in 3rd. Clermount was just in front of me and Netherlands Jeffery Herlings was in the lead. After a battle Clermount and I were out in front. I sat behind him for the whole race thinking about where to pass and then on the last lap last turn I slipped under him and took the lead. It was such a close finish I didn’t even know I won! 0.262 of a second was the gap!!!
Finally I had to do my bit on the podium and taking the overall win, had the English National anthem played.
