Hi everybody,

maxWe are out in the U.S. for the World Mini Championship but before we race that one we have been training out here for a couple of weeks to get more prepared and in that time we had a race at Comp Edge a fast, high speed track . This race is a qualifier for another big race later in the year called the Loretta Lynn’s Championship. You have to be in the top 15 to qualify so it wasn’t too difficult.

I was racing my age group 85cc MOD and the supermini under 16s. Practice went well and the track was already getting ruff.

My first race was my 85cc age group. I was in about 6th off the gate and was coming through fast. On the second lap I was in 3rd and going for the leaders. On the next lap I was right on the leaders, then the leader went down in one of the turns and the second place rider went around him in I went underneath the both of them. I was then pulling a lead but on the next lap I tried a new line and I went down. I got up fast and was still in 4th. I had no more time to come back so I ended up 4th.

My second race was the supermini class. I didn’t get such a good start and with the riders being that bit older and faster it was hard to come through. This track is all about the start because it is so fast and hard to pass. I was working my way up and got to 6th. That was a pretty good result considering that we had a few suspension problems and the bike was not handling to good.

In my second 85cc race my dad had leaned the bike off a bit to much so it wasn’t very fast. I didn’t get a good start but then got back to 3rd. with the last race I was able to catch the leaders in this one we were all the same so not getting a good start was making it very difficult to catch them. I ended up staying in third.

In my final race with the supermini we had made a few changes to the bike but it still wasn’t right. I got a better start than the others and was having a good battle. I eventually ended up 6th.

I learnt a lot this weekend and I can’t wait until next week for the world mini. We will be testing all week to make shore it runs well in Vegas and I will be definitely be working on my starts. Also with Vegas being new to everyone because they make the track and no one can ride on it, it will be a lot fairer on the people who don’t ride the track everyday. So I can’t wait!
